It's time for 'homophobia' to go away

With much love, I’m responding to my ‘anti-gay’ and ‘pro-gay’ friends with a single suggestion…

As expected today, I’ve survived dramatic pitches on both sides of the ‘homophobia’ label and I have to ask as a friend, and as a strategic positioning kind of person, why do we allow this label to survive? Considering poverty, taxes, immigration, the cost of education, healthcare, the wars, the environment, unemployment, and the inability of either party to focus on anything other than the extremes, why do we let this particular issue divide us?

Please note that I have gay and straight friends that have been impacted by this topic so I don’t mean to trivialize anyone’s personal experience…what I am talking about is the label and the extremism that goes along with it. So...

If you support gay rights, please believe me when I tell you that I love you and I want you to do well. With that said, I would appreciate your support parsing some of the major issues listed above and your assistance identifying middle-of-the-road solutions that are ultimately good for everyone.

If we focus on the common good (and I’m guessing you already do), I’m betting we can accomplish far more if we avoid the labels.
